Chicks Dig Time Lords - Oh yes they do!

So, as if the book was not awesome enough,

We get to Madison and find the place pretty easily. And find awesome parking, literally right around the corner. While

Things get done, yadda-yadda-yadda, and we go to the bookstore. A room of One's Own (307 W. Johnson Street, Madison, Wisconsin - If in town you should stop by!)is an awesome little bookstore, and the women running it were so nice and sweet. So we found some seats, right behind Lynne's husband, daughter and mother-in-law (If I went into how sweet they were, that would require way more paragraphs). So, in attendance of those wonderful chicks, we had Lynne Thomas, Tara O'Shea, Tammy Garrison, Kathryn Sullivan and Carole Barrowman. Carole was running late so Lynne told us to talk amongst ourselves while Tammy's significant other took shots of the crowd.
"I have to take a piss!" is how Carole entered the bookstore, saw everyone right there, shrugged and was like "oh, hi." Travel was not the best the last two days for her because of the storms and everything (yeah.... Driving beyond the cheddar curtain when it is raining and other people have somehow forgotten how to drive is *so fun!*)
Everyone gets settled and it is decided the ladies would read excerpts/give background/share stories, one at a time. Tara went first, followed by Kathryn, Tammy, Lynne (who DID make me cry), and then Carole (I needed the laughter after Lynne's story - remember the sweetness right in front of me?). Then they took some questions from the audience, such as "favorite bit of the book," and "what are you reading now," along with "what do you think of the new doctor?" Once that was done - and it was neat to see the women commiserating over shared favorite books or series or discussing what is wrong with this mystery series or how awesome Batman is - they moved over to another section of the bookstore to do the book signing.
So, my friend and I waited, because we had some odd things to say. First of all, we had brought only one of the knitted Daleks with (I SWEAR! People are knowing our group for the knitted Daleks rather than for us. We don't need badges at the next con, just look for the multi-colored Daleks.). I also had brought with Barrowman Sparkly Panda Bear that

Another thing, last weekend (the 17th of April) I was one of the crazy people behind the Whoniverse Photoshoot - Part Deux that happened in Chicago (an all day photoshoot, gab session, hanging with fellow geeks and having fun and showing off cosplays) and we used the Chicks Dig Time Lords book in several shots. One of the shots that Tara and at least one other person had retweeted last Monday was this one:
So I had all the film photos and made sure I printed out all the ones with Chicks Dig Time Lords and threw them into a photo album. After a brief chit chat with the ladies, I pulled out the photo album, open to the Chicks Dig Time Lords photos. Tara saw it and was like "oh, this is the photo!" and then

Tara asked if we could stick around and we did, while wondering just how all these other people knew about the photoshoot and stuff, and did we just have a small internet explosion in person and this was so wild but very cool and yes... you could see just some of the things that were going through my mind. So we waited around, took some pictures of the Chicks and then Tara looked through all the pictures (And no, sorry Tara, that was NOT all the pics from the photoshoot - that was a drop in the bucket. And yes, there will be a MASSIVE post soon, relax...)
So, we reluctantly left the awesomeness that was female geekdom and the men who love them, and headed home. I hear there will be another signing on June 6th in Milwaukee...
Oh yeah, and a couple of more pics for you...
(Yes, we took pics at the event, but those are on
